A photogrphic journalist (Catherine McCormack) is researching a hundred year old murder of two women on a remote New England island. The story of the murders is played out in flashback and runs alongside her relationship with her husband and her friends helping her reseach the story. The historical story is well told and produced, but the characters in the contemporary story are less inspiring. The link between the two stories is through the relationships and experiences of each group of people as there is no actual direct connection between the past and present.
